ORIE is an amalgamation of ideas and deities in the Igbo Pantheon. Inspired by Ogwugwu, a name given to different arusi in different communities. ORIE has an enchanting aura and presides over prosperity, generosity, happiness, and wealth. Orie is very kind, beautiful and full of life. ORIE brings a bountiful harvest whenever they manifest and usually appears during the new yam festival (an important celebration in Igbo culture).
In our story: ORIE is dressing a table for a feast. Filled with excitement and hope for the rebirth that comes after overcoming struggle. They celebrate the Igbo people who have now triumphed against all odds.
Their space is a dining pavilion in the middle of a farm meant for community and warmth. In a luxurious shed, rammed earth makes the back wall decorated with murals of painted masks.
